I got five on it

Vernazza, Italy

Just got home from The Green Zone followed by B.A.R. I had the shrimps to start off and steak tartare with fries to finnish the evening. I forgot my camera so I guess I'll have to give you a more detailed post about B.A.R. some other day. Til then I can just say that it's a great place.

Let's go back to the summer of 2009 instead. On the Italian riviera, Liguria, there's five villages called Cinque Terre (translates to something like Five Soils). We stayed in Vernazza, one of the five villages.

All the villages are full of American tourists who go there to hike. This means the locals are surprisingly good at English compared to Italians in general. Luckily enough, not being to keen on having other tourists around me 24/7, most of the visitors concentrate on hiking the hills so the beaches are not as crowded as you might think.

The square in Vernazza is packed with restaurants. Don't remember the name of this one but it's the one closest to the church. The picture doesn't really do justice to this anmazing dish. Stuffed baked mussels in tomato sauce is what our waiter recomended us to choose for starters so that's what we had. Can't even remember what we had for main course cause the mussels killed the competition. One of the best starters I've had in my life. No joke!

Our waiter was an old man who loved to talk about his trips to New York and his brother who had a restaurant there called Beatrice Inn. He said they had the stuffed mussels there too but he'd probably not spoken to his brother for a while cause last time I checked the Parisian club owner André had taken over the place and made it into to a hip VIP club.

Exactly one year ago I was 13 kilos (28,5 pounds) heavier. This means I've had to let go of a bunch of my favorite clothes lately, cause they just don't look that good on me anymore. Herr Judit will get some new stuff in store and I'll get some more space in my closet. Bye bye... we had a good run!
