Invasion Arrivée de Mars

I'm going to Marseille in July. It'll be my third time. I still have a lot more to see of what the city has to offer but I already love it. Especially the food.

I'm really looking forward to the Vietnamese food, pizzas, goat cheese filled ravioli with fig sauce, moules frites (mussels and fries)... but what I'm really longing for the most is something I like to call "the chicken ball".

Close to the Port Vieux in the heart of Marseille's city center there's an area called Noailles. The blocks of Noailles is full of life do to the market - Le marché de Noailles. You'll find all kinds of nice grab and go food in this area. On the corner of Rue Longue des Capucins and Rue des Feuillants there's a bakery, I guess it's kind of a North African one, and this is where you'll find the chicken ball. Imagine a chicken casserole with apples, cinnamon and a bunch of other herbs cooked inside a bread that will fall into pieces just like a croissant when you eat it. And imagine it tasting more and better than most things you've ever tasted.

If you don't like chicken or you had to many chicken balls there's a great pizza place (Charly Pizza) right across the street from the bakery where they roll up your slice into a pizza roll. The merguez is always a sure shot!
