La vie de rêve

I've been to Cafe Gitane in NoLIta (North of Little Italy) on Manhattan, New York two or three times and I really like the place. Not too pricey, not too fancy, nice atmosphere and good food. I've heard this place is supposed to be good for spotting celebs. I've never seen any. With or without the celebs it's definitely worth a visit. It's a French/Moroccan kitchen serving things like merguez with couscous, meatballs in tomato sauce, goat cheese with pomegranate syrup, baked feta cheese... plus it's a nice place for drinking sparkling wine or french beer.

Cafe Gitane - 242 Mott St., New York, NY

Merguez sausages with couscous with red peppers, raisins, toasted pinenuts, hummus and eggplant. 14,50 dollars.

Herbed goat cheese with chili flakes and pomegranate syrup. 6 dollars.
